There may be more to this January’sThe X-Filesevent series than meets the eye. While only6 episodeslong, it is believed to serve as a backdoor pilot for a newThe X-Filesspinoff series. This show is said to revolve around twonew charactersbeing introduced in the revival. Though, no one associated with the series will confirm that it is happening.
This newX-Files Spinoffis said to possibly revolve around FBI Agents Miles and Einstein. Played byThe Flash’sRobbie Amelland Six Feet Under’sLauren Ambrose, the two characters are described asalien hunting agents.TVLinereports that the series was being considered by Fox. But it is currently dead. They do not rule out that the idea will be resurrected sometime in the near future.
WhenTVLinespoke with original series creatorChris Carterat New York Comic Con last month, he refused to deny that a show revolving around Miles and Einstein was being planned. But he wouldn’t outright confirm the rumors, either. There seems to be a lot of potential for this pair, with Fox andCarterpossibly waiting to see how fans react to these new characters before announcing anything publicly.
Chris Carterdid note that the two actors are not signed for anything past these next 6 episodes. Their contracts do not contain ‘a series deal beyond’ what has already been shot. While he doesn’t mind people speculating about a new show lead byRobbie AmellandLauren Ambrose, he wants everyone to know their pacts were not negotiated with the idea of a spinoff taking place in the future.
When asked if he was considering a spinoff,Chris Carterremained stoic. He doesn’t want to discuss anything beyond the event series that is coming our way this January. About any possible spinoff, he had this to say.
“Right now I’m focused on doing the show with David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson].”
