Most fans didn’t have any clue whatMarvelhad up their sleeve when they launched theirMarvel Cinematic Universein 2008 withIron Man. ProducerKevin Feigerevealed in October that the two-part adventureAvengers: Infinity War Part I(August 16, 2025) andAvengers: Infinity War - Part II(June 19, 2025) will bring an end to a major part of the MCU, 11 years after it was first introduced. DirectorAnthony Russo, who will be taking the helm with his brotherJoe Russoon both movies, made an appearance at Comic Con Experience in Brazil this past weekend, where he revealed toSuper Interessantethat it may be possible for Netflix heroes such asDaredevil,Jessica Jones,Luke CageandIron Fistto be featured inAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part II. But if it happens, it won’t happen easily.
“It’s complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories it’s difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led byKevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are fromMarvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it’s more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some ofMarvel’s most popular characters, as does Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens inMarvelmovies, but everything is possible,Spider-Man(whose rights were held by Sony) became possible!”
We know that all of theNetflixshowsDaredevil,Jessica Jones,Luke CageandIron Fistare part of theMarvelCinematic Universe.Luke CageandIron Fistare expected to arrive in 2016, with these characters converging withDaredevilandJessica Jonesto formThe Defenders, which is expected to debut in 2017. Since all of these characters will have debuted beforeAvengers: Infinity War Part Iarrived in 2018, it’s possible that they may join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in their battle against the nefarious Thanos (Josh Brolin).
We reported in April that production will begin in late 2016 on bothAvengers: Infinity Warmovies, with a massive nine-month shoot.Anthony RussoandJoe Russowill direct from a script byChristopher MarkusandStephen McFeely, who wrote all three of theCaptain Americamovies. No story details have been given yet, but the villainous Thanos and his quest to retrieve all of the Infinity Stones will certainly be a major part of the story.
Another report from October claimed that bothAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIcould cost upwards of $1 billion, but that was never confirmed.
