13 years later and bothPeter BergandDwayne Johnsonare still looking to revisitThe Rundown. The original 2003 action/comedy was one of the movies that helped jump-startJohnson’s career, even though it wasn’t a massive success at the time. The movie was received well and he has gone onto become a huge star since, and now it looks likeThe Rundown 2may happen if he andBergcan get the right pieces in place, namelyJonah Hill.

Colliderrecently caught up withPeter Bergat the Toronto International Film Festival where he talked a bit about his desire to makeThe Rundown 2happen. He mentioned that he originally wanted to do the movie withDwayne JohnsonandKevin Hart, but now he wantsSuperbadstarJonah Hillto star alongsideThe Rock. Here is what he had to say about it.

“We’ve been talking about it. You know, I wanted to do it with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne andJonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. Anything’s possible. We want to do it, it’s just hard to get everybody, you know. It’s on our minds. We actually wrote a script. But I want Jonah Hill, so reach out to Jonah. Pressure Jonah to do it. If Jonah Hill would do it, I’m in.”

Dwayne Johnsonhas since gone on to become arguably the biggest, and busiest, movie star on the planet in the years followingThe Rundown. We recently reported that the actor’s busy schedule is potentially going to delay the third installment of theG.I. Joefranchise, but that isn’t going to keepThe Rockfrom getting our hopes up. He took to Twitter followingPeter Berg’s comments to confirm that he is indeed interested in doing the movie and that he loves the idea of addingJonah Hill. He also had a bit of a title suggestion as well. Here is what he had to say.

“Down with this exclusive. Luv Jonah! The original title of The Rundown was #HellDorado. We should call it that..”

The Rundownis a very well-liked movie and has maintained a following in the years since its release. The problem with getting a sequel off the ground, aside fromDwayne Johnson’s schedule andJonah Hill’s pending involvement, is that the first movie was far from a box office success. One might even call it close to a bomb. The Rundownhad a reported budget of $85 million and only earned $80 million worldwide. Those numbers don’t exactly justify a sequel on their own, butJohnsonhas become one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood and with a supporting cast that would possibly includeJonah Hill, it would be a very different situation.

Peter Berg’s schedule looks like it could be freeing up. His latest movieDeepwater Horizonis about to hit theaters and he is already in post-production on his next moviePatriot’s Day. After that, it looks to be free and clear.Dwayne Johnsonon the other hand has a packed schedule for the next couple of years with little time for additional projects, but if anyone can will something into existence, it isThe Rockand his insane work ethic. Perhaps ifJonah Hillsays yes the ball will actually get rolling onThe Rundown 2, orHelldorado, ifJohnsonhas it his way.
