Earlier this month, Marvel Studios kicked off their massive Phase 3 with the release ofCaptain America: Civil War, which has already become a bona fide blockbuster, crossing $1 billion worldwide after just a few weeks in theaters. While this movie sets the stage for the MCU’s huge plans moving forward, Marvel Comics revealed an even bigger surprise yesterday, with the release ofCaptain America: Steve Rogers #1, which many fans weren’t too pleased about. It didn’t take long forChris Evans, who plays Cap on the big screen, to react to this game-changing news. If you are trying to avoid SPOILERS for this new comic, then stop reading right now.

TheCaptain America: Steve Rogers #1comic, which debuted yesterday, revealed that Steve Rogers has actually be part ofHydraall along. It isn’t known if this shocking secret could also carry over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s certainly possible. The MCU’s Cap,Chris Evans, took to hisTwitterpage yesterday to share his brief thoughts about the news. Here’s what he had to say below.

“Hydra?!?!? #sayitaintso”

This shocking revelation also comes as Cap celebrates his 75th Anniversary, and in case you were wondering whether the Steve Rogers in this comic is some sort of a clone or an android, Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort confirms that this is actually Steve Rogers, and not some alternate form of the hero. This story had been in the works for awhile, and it was revealed that Steve was recruited to join Hydra way back in the 1920s, when he was just a young boy.

It’s worth noting that Sam Wilson recently took over asCaptain Americain this current run of comics, and it was revealed after the issue debuted yesterday that fans will get a better understanding of what is actually going on with Steve Rogers, and how he’s managed to work as an undercover agent all these years. Subsequent issues will offer a new side to Steve, showing who he truly is as a person. Most fans have already taken to social media to express their anger over making Cap a Hydra agent, and it seemsChris Evansisn’t a huge fan either.

While it’s possible that the upcoming movies in Marvel Phase 3 could address this big twist from the new comics, we don’t know for sure if that’s the case or not. We know Cap will be back for the two-partAvengers: Infinity Warmovies, but just yesterday,Chris Evansteased how he’d like to be a part of eitherGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2or the newSpider-Man: Homecomingmovie, starringTom Holland. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates regarding this epicCaptain Americatwist, and take a look atChris Evans' tweet below. As it stands,Captain America: Civil Waris thebiggest movie of 2016.
