LEGOs are no longer just collector items and fun building toys. In recent years they have expanded into therealm of feature-length filmsand television shows. Starting with the massive success of the 2014The Lego Movie, there have now been four full feature-length films that take place in the LEGO universe including,The LEGO Batman Movie,The LEGO Ninjago Movie, andThe LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

These LEGO movieshave been quite successful, as the medium allows for some interesting play with the source material and has done an amazing job in creating new worlds from old IP. The movies don’t tend to take themselves too seriously, as they are able to be both funny and action-packed. The films have done a great job of capturing great voice performers for the animated films, such as Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, and Morgan Freeman. Here are a few beloved films that we would love to see take on a LEGO remake.

jaws-1

The original film directed by Steven Spielberg was released in 1975 and holds up incredibly well today. The film won three Oscars, and stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfus. Compared to a LEGO film, the narrative ofJawsis a pretty simple one. The adventure thriller involves the hunt of a killer shark and leaves a lot of room for a creative approach with a LEGO-themed film. It would also be awesome to see a LEGO rendition of the behemoth shark, Bruce.

LEGO Transformers

With six movies in the franchise, there are a lot of different directions that a LEGO film could take. The original film was released in 2007 and directed by Micheal Bay.Transformers, with all their moving parts and ability to take the form of cars, trucks, and other vehicles, seem too perfect for a LEGO film. It would be incredibly impressive to see a LEGO transformer, and the franchise has plenty of action to fit with the adventure genre of other LEGO films.

LEGO Jurassic Park

With the newest installment,Jurassic World: Dominioncoming out soon, this is yet another franchise with plenty of content to pull from. The original film was released in 1993 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. It stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. It is an action-adventure that is built around the concept of a theme park featuring real dinosaurs. LEGO already has a few sets from their DINO line that feature prehistoric animals, so a LEGOJurassic Parkfilm wouldn’t be too far-fetched.

LEGO Aliens

We would settle for a remake of either the original 1979Alienfilm directed by Ridley Scott orAliens, the 1986 sequel directed by James Cameron, butthe more aliens the better. The original film won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects and the sequel won two, one for Best Visual Effects and the other for Sound Effect Editing. Seeing the set design of the two films recreated with LEGO would be quite the spectacle.

LEGO Lord of the Rings

One of the most successful franchises in movie history andwith the expansive source contentinThe Lord of The Rings, there area lot of different directions the creators could take. Whether a recreation of the original trilogy directed by Peter Jackson, or taking a completely different route, like the newThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,Middle Earth would provide an amazing backdrop for a LEGO movie.

LEGO Power Rangers

There may be more familiarity with the television series, but thePower Rangersfranchise also released a live-action film in 2017. The movie got mixed reviews, but this leaves a lot of room for improvement with a LEGO film.Power Rangers, like LEGO, are beloved by many, and although there has never been an officialPower Rangers LEGO set, we think a movie adaptation would be a great addition to the universe.

LEGO The Chronicles of Narnia

Another IP filled with mystery, wonder, and magic,The Chronicles of Narniaseries would be an amazing backdrop for a LEGO film. The contemporary seriesboasts three separate installmentswith three varying fantasy settings. A LEGO movie would hopefully include all three. One of the most successful aspects of these films is the ensemble cast of characters. This would work incredibly well for a LEGO movie, which has a history of capitalizing on this as well. Unlike some other films on this list, the Narnia series was not a massive box office success; this leaves a lot of room for exploration into new elements, reinvigorating a series that has not released a film in 12 years.
