WhenTransformers: The Last Knighthits theaters next summer, it will not only mark the fifth film in this franchise, but it will also mark the 10th anniversary of the firstTransformersfilm. Aside from directorMichael Bay, one of the other constants in this franchise is their partnership with IMAX. Before we get a glimpse at thefirst trailer, a new featurette has surfaced that highlights the franchise’s partnership with IMAX, revealing new footage fromTransformers 5, long with three new photos.
At first, this video, which debuted onParamount Pictures' YouTube, seems to only delve through this decade-long partnership between theTransformers franchiseand IMAX, with interview segments from directorMichael Bayand IMAX CEOGreg Fosterand footage from the first four movies. Towards the end of this two-minute video, we get new behind-the-scenes footage withMark Wahlbergin London, asMichael Bayreveals that they’re shooting in IMAX 3D, along withTransformers 5footage from what appears to be a scene set in medieval times.

There had long been rumors that this story will have some connection to medieval times, which was eventually confirmed withLiam Garrigansigning on to play the legendaryKing Arthur, andSantiago Cabreraplaying the wizard Merlin. Part of this video showcases a number of unidentified actors clad in ancient armor, and what appears to be quick glimpses of a battle scene. There have been rumors that Optimus Prime is seeking an artifact that dates back to the days of King Arthur and Merlin, although no story details have yet to be confirmed.
IMAX’sLorne Orleansalso reveals that directorMichael Bayis the first filmmaker to take two of their IMAX cameras and configure them to shoot in 3D in real time, a feat which he states is “not trivial.” We also get glimpses at some present-day battle scenes, withMichael Bayclaiming that they are using all of IMAX’s technology to give fans “the best experience” in theaters next summer. Paramount has set a July 07, 2025 release date forTransformers: The Last Knight, which will go up against Sony’s comedyRock That Body.
