Production on Shudder’sCreepshowseries has been underway for a few weeks now. Today, we have word that legendary effects artist, actor and director Tom Savini will be at the helm of an upcoming episode, directing the Joe Hill adaptationBy the Silver Water of Lake Champlain.
The anthology series is based on the classic 1982 horror movieCreepshowfrom Joe Hill’s dad Stephen King and collaborator/director George A. Romero. It was previously announced thatThe Walking Deadcreative mastermind and iconic effects maestro Greg Nicotero is directing the Stephen King adapted episodeGray Matter.
Tom Savinijust wrapped production on his installment of thestreaming series, which will launch exclusively on Shudder. Tom Savini was actually one of the makeup effects artists on the original movie, so bringing him back into the fold seems like a no brainer. He teased his contribution toCreepshowwhile attending Monsterpalooza in Pasadena, California this past weekend. He said this.
“I just directed an episode of theCreepshowtelevision series. There’s twelve [stories] altogether - each show will have two episodes in it. Mine’s a combination of Stand By Me, The Fog and Jurassic Park. It’s really something.. It’ll be like the movie with comic book pages turning and boxes…scary things.”

The first season of Shudder’sCreepshowseries will consist of 6 brand-new episodes from award-winning and acclaimed horror writers. Along withBy the Silver Water of Lake Champlainby Joe Hill (the mastermind behind the upcoming AMC seriesNOS4A2), we’re also gettingHouse of the Headby Josh Malerman (Bird Box),The Companionby Joe Lansdale (The Bottoms),The Man in the Suitcaseby Christopher Buehlman (The Lesser Dead),All Hallows Eveby Bruce Jones (The Hitchhiker),Night of the Pawby John Esposito (The Walking Dead: Webisodes) andBad Wolf Downby Rob Schrab (Monster House).
Greg Nicoterois also executive producing the upcoming streaming series. He had this to say about working on such a classic horror title, bringing it back for fans.

Greg Nicotero will be directing several episodes of the series, alongsideThe Ritualdirector David Bruckner. Roxanne Benjamin, Rob Schrab and John Harrison will also be jumping behind the camera at some point in the show’s limited first season run.
