Timothée Chalametmade history by becoming the first solo male to grace the cover of British Vogue.In the October issue’s feature interview,theDuneactor shared some words of advice he received from Academy Award WinnerLeonardo DiCaprioduring their first meeting in 2018: “No hard drugs and no superhero movies.”
At only 26, Chalamet has already established himself as a talented force and built a strong portfolio. In 2018, the actor became the third-youngest Academy Award Best Actor nominee for his work on the critically acclaimed Call Me by Your Name. He’s also appeared in other respected films includingLady Bird, Little Women, DuneandInterstellar. The actor most recently appeared inBones and Alland Netflix’sDon’t Look Up, which starred DiCaprio. During his interview, he also discussed his acting aspirations that arose during his teen years:

“I had a delusional dream in my early teenage years to have, in my late teenage years, an acting career. And in my late teenage years, working on Homeland and starting to do theatre in New York, I felt like I reduced my goal to something more realistic, which was to work in theatre and hopefully make enough money doing either a TV show or something I could sustain myself [with]. And then it felt like every dream came true, exponentially. And then life is moving at six million miles per hour.”

Chalamet Takes on Famous Chocolatier Willy Wonka
Up next, Chalamet will star as the titular character inWonka, a prequel toCharlie and the Chocolate Factory.The musical is based on the originalCharlie and the Chocolate Factorynovel by Roald Dahl. The iconic film character has been famously portrayed for the big screen twice: In 1971, Gene Wilder tackled the role, and in 2005, Johnny Depp starred in Tim Burton’s film adaptation.
Wonkawill introduce viewers to a younger version of the peculiar candy man. During the interview with British Vogue, Chalamet spoke about the movie, calling it “sincere” and “so joyous”.
Wonkawill be directed by Paul King (Paddington) and stars Chalamet, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, Matt Lucas, Keegan Michael-Key, Jim Carter, and Mathew Baynton. It is currently in post-production stage and scheduled for release in 2023.
Chalamet will also star in Denis VilleneuveDune: Part Two, opposite Austin Butler and Florence Pugh. The film is scheduled for release late 2023, serving as a direct sequel to 2021’s Dune.
