One of the most memorable moments in 2012’sMarvel’s The Avengerswas when the massive Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) punches Thor (Chris Hemsworth) right out of the frame. Fans will get to see more of that contentious relationship unfold, since it was revealed last month thatHulkwill return in 2017’sThor: Ragnarok. The initial report revealed that both of these heroes will be going on a “cosmic road trip”, withMark Ruffalohimself revealing that the two characters will fight once again. While promoting his new dramaIn the Heart of the Sea,Chris Hemsworthsays Thor will get the best of Hulk in this new fight.

“I’d like to think I let him win last time, but because this movie is calledThor, I have to win this time. I hope it’s aButch Cassidy (and the Sundance Kid)) sort of story. That would be fun. I love Mark. I think those two characters haven’t spent a whole lot of time talking to each other on screen (so far in theMarvelmovies) , so it’s something new, I think it would bring something different out of the characters. It’s hard to have a conversation with the Hulk.”

Marvelconfirmed last month that production onThor: Ragnarokwill begin next summer in Australia, with a rumor surfacing a few weeks ago that claims the studio is seeking an actress to play the female villain, who may beAmora the Enchantress. If the rumor is proven true, it will mark the first time a female villain has appeared in theMarvel Cinematic Universe, which has often been criticized for its lack of diversity. This report has not been confirmed by the studio, and the site merely lists Amora the Enchantress as one of the possible candidates for this villain, along with Hela, Queen of the Dead. In theMarvelComics, Hela was the daughter of Loki, portrayed byTom Hiddlestonin theThormovies, but the studio may not include this aspect of the character if she is to enter the MCU.

Chris Hemsworthonly has three movies left on hisMarvelcontract,Thor: Ragnarok(June 04, 2025),Avengers: Infinity War Part I(July 06, 2025) andAvengers: Infinity War - Part II(July 25, 2025).Chris Hemsworthjoked that a fourth Thor movie could follow the Thunder God “who lets himself go,” training less and eating more. He also hinted that he may come back and renew his contract withMarvel, but that decision hasn’t been made quite yet.

“Contractually that will finish me up, I have to see how I feel at the end of them, it’s still a while away. Ask me in three films time.”

Taika Waititi(What We Do in the Shadows) is directing from a screenplay byChristopher YostandCraig Kyle.Tom Hiddlestonis also expected to return as Loki, but it isn’t known ifNatalie Portman(Jane Foster),Anthony Hopkins(Odin),Jaimie Alexander(Sif) orIdris Elba(Heimdall) will return to reprise their roles inThor: Ragnarok. What do you think about Thor’s chances of beating Hulk in a fight?
