The Week Oftells the story of a devoted, middle class father (Adam Sandler) determined to pay for his daughter’s wedding despite the prodding of the wealthier father of the groom (Chris Rock). A series of calamities forces the dads (and their families) to come together and endure the longest week of their lives.

The Week Ofis the fourth movie in Adam Sandler’s first contract with Netflix. A deal that worked out brilliantly for both parties involved. It has allowed Adam Sandler to tell some stories he never could on the big screen, and it has brought Netflix some of its biggest ratings for any of its original movies, only recently bested by the Christmas releaseBright. Sandler and Netflix have enjoyed this project so much, they have signed a second deal which will kick into effect sometime next year with a whole new set of movies.

The Week Ofwas announced in 2017, with Adam Sandler andChris Rockreuniting once again after first appearing asSNLcast mates as well as starring inGrown UpsandGrown Ups 2, a franchise which has given us our only Adam Sandler sequel to date. Longtime Sandler collaborator Robert Smigel is back to direct the dynamic duo in thiswedding comedy, which shows off one week in the lives of two dads coming to terms with the impending nuptials of their kids.

Happy Madison Productions' Adam Sandler and Allen Covert serve as producers and Barry Bernardi and Tim Herlihy will serve as executive producers. Sandler and Smigel co-wrote the script. Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer, had to say in his statement, as the comedy was starting production.

“Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are cornerstones of the Netflix comedy family and we are over the moon about thesetwo legends reunitingto give our members worldwide a healthy dose of the hilarity that they have been creating together for years. Similar in the romantic comedy tone of Sandler’s most recent film Sandy Wexler, this film will be the perfect vehicle for Sandler and Rock and their millions of fans around the world.”

Sandler, whose films have grossed over $3 billion, dominated box offices around the world with such films asGrown Ups,Billy Madison,Big DaddyandThe Waterboy. In 2014, the multi-hyphenate actor, writer, producer and occasional singer-songwriter set his sights on conquering the streaming world and his films have found enormous success on Netflix. Sandler’s first three Netflix films,The Ridiculous 6,The Do-Over, andSandy Wexlerare three of the biggest film releases ever on Netflix. Sandler and Netflix’s previously mentioned new deal also includes four new movies, the first of which has yet to be announced.
