The Officeis always present. It’s been almost 10 years since the series finale, and 8 since its debut, but news and details about the acclaimed comedy continue to emerge on an almost daily basis, especially as fans continue to enjoy it through streaming platforms that repeat it.

Adapted from the British series of the same name, it premiered on NBC television on June 10, 2025. It has won both Primetime Emmy and Peabody Awards, and is considered by many to be one of the best sitcoms in the history of television. Although it is a work of fiction, the recording adopts the false documentary format, in the sense that the actors sometimes look at the camera and even address it directly commenting on some scenes, something extremely innovative.

But the filming style isn’t the only way the series was different. Also in the use of its budget. On a recent episode ofOffice Ladies(viaMashable), Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey revealed that one of the show’s episodes cost $250,000:

“They built this in the parking lot of a Best Buy that I have been to many times, actually. They set up cameras on the other side of this raceway, and they had cars drive around it at 55 miles an hour. Then they added rain pouring down on us [with] these giant rain machines.”

The actresses refer to the episode Weight Loss, where Jim (John Krasinsky) proposes to Pam (Fischer). The 52-second scene became the most expensive sequence to shoot throughout all nine seasons of The Office. To create the moment, the production team used Google Street View to take pictures of an actual gas station along Merritt Parkway and built the set to match the location.

What’s The Office About?

The Officefollows the day-to-day lives of some eccentric workers at the Dunder Mifflin company, mainly focusing on Michael Scott (Steve Carell), the head of the office and a man who always seems to do and say the wrong thing. Even when he appears to have good intentions, he always takes the wrong path.

Among these employees is Pam Beesley, a saleswoman who, although she has been working at Dunder Mifflin for years, considers it temporary while she manages to earn a living as an artist. There is also Jim Halpert, one of the best salesmen despite his qualms about making a career in the office. Jim and Pam’s relationship is very close, and that causes rumors among their coworkers, especially since Pam has been engaged for three years to Roy Anderson, a warehouse worker.
