Rudyard Kipling’s iconic taleThe Jungle Bookhas been told on the big screen numerous times in the past, including Disney’s iconic animated adaptation that hit theaters in 1967. Nearly 50 years after that beloved movie, fans will get to experience this adventure in a whole new way with directorJon Favreau’sThe Jungle Book, starringNeel Sethias Mowgli, the movie’s only live-action character, with a host of talented actors voicing the numerous animals this youngster meets along the way. As we get closer to the April 15 release,Moviefonehas debuted an extendedIMAXtrailer, with an introduction byLupita Nyong’o(the voice of Raksha), which sheds some new light on how Mowgli ended up in the jungle in the first place.

This clip features Mowgli’s introduction to the the powerful snake Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), who shows this young “man-cub” just how he was left alone in the jungle. We saw in an earlier clip that the villainousShere Khan(Idris Elba) wanted Mowgli out of the jungle, but as it turns out, he was actually somewhat responsible for this youngster being raised there. This scene shows a traveler taking shelter in a jungle cave, where a fire is burning, when Shere Khan attacks and kills this man, leaving Mowgli to fend for himself, before he is found by Bagheera (Ben Kingsley).

Directed byJon Favreau, based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film,The Jungle Bookis an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomerNeel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice ofScarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice ofChristopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.
