Ezra Miller will finally be seen inThe Flashstandalone movie in 2022. Warner Bros. just announced the release date, along with a bunch more upcoming dates for other projects. DC fans have been waiting patiently for the studio to announce anything about Miller’s return as the Scarlet Speedster for years now. Ever since the 2018 release date came and went, fans were unsure if the project was going to happen at all. Thankfully, we now have some light at the end of the tunnel.

The Flashis set to speed into theaters on July 1st, 2022. This is the first time since 2018 that Warner Bros. has announced a concrete release date. The new release date comes over four years after the original movie was supposed to hit theaters and comes after a ton of behind-the-scenes setbacks. With the 2022 release on the way, one can easily seeproduction starting in early 2021, which means we’re still pretty far away from anything starting, but it’s at the very least, another promise that it’s really happening.

Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa, along with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have all been attached toThe Flashmovie over the years. Now,IT Chapter Two director Andres Muschiettiis on board to take on the project. “What captivated me aboutThe Flashis the human drama in it,” notes Muschietti. “The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It’s going to be fun, too.” The director says he cannot promise any horror elements, but he does say the movie will be a “beautiful human story.”

Ezra Miller has kept the fanbase’s hope aliveover the years, despite the setbacks. The actor has never cast doubt onThe Flashover the years. However, some fans are going to remain to be skeptical about the news, which is to be understandable. The project has been talked about since 2016 whenJustice Leaguewas in production. Miller then sat down with comics writer Grant Morrison to help give the studio an idea of what he had in mind.
