The Stath will join forces withThe Night Comes for Us, The Shadow Strays,andNobody 2directorTimo Tjahjanto, who has now taken to social media to possibly hint at the first details about the sequel…and the possible return of a crowd-pleasing character.

Taking to hisofficial X/Twitter account, the action filmmaker shared an image from one of the best fight scenes inThe Beekeeper, which sees Statham’s assassin come up against Lazarus (played by Taylor James), a South African mercenary who has experience killing Beekeepers and leads his own team of killers and hired guns. Following a brutal exchange of fists, which concludes with Statham getting the upper hand and seemingly killing the villain, Tjahjanto has suggested that the two could face off again in the sequel…

Of course, The Stath is no mere lowly beekeeper, and is soon revealed to be a former operative of a powerful, secret organization known as “Beekeepers.” Plot details forThe Beekeeper 2are currently under wraps, but the follow-up will no doubt shed more light on the titular group of assassins. Something which former director, now producer, David Ayerhas teased previously:

“Absolutely. I mean, I’m fascinated by the mythology of the beekeepers. We’ve cracked the door a little bit and seen what they can do. Now I want to know: who are they, where did they come from, and where are they going? And where did Jason come from in all this? There’s so much more to explore and it’s another opportunity to work with Jason.”
