The ’80s buddy cop action throwback is climbing the Prime Video charts.
It’s unclear if the animated show will be titledTed 3, but it will have to change the title convention style due to the prequel carrying the same name. The switch from live-action to animated might not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, this was likely the easiest path to getting a sequel made, especially since the actors would find an easier time fitting voice acting into their packed schedules. ‘Ted 2’ Failed To Impress Critics, but It Recently Landed a New Streaming Home
WhileTedwas a hit with critics and audiences alike in 2012, Seth MacFarlane’s sequel, which was released in 2015, failed to meet expectations.Ted 2has a 45% rating from critics and an equally divisive score from audiences, with 50% on the Popcornmeter scale. The mixed reception was reflected at the box office, as the movie grossed $217 million based on a $68 million budget. By itself, it’s not a terrible number nowadays, but it was a far cry from the originalTed, which grossed $549 million at the worldwide box office. It seems the sequel’s tepid results stalled a sequel for a decade before Peacock decided to pick up the animated sequel.
As of this writing,Ted 2is streaming on Netflix. It may not be operating on the same level as the first film, but it is still a pretty funny follow-up that features new cast members and several exciting cameos. In addition to Mark Wahlberg and MacFarlane, the film’s cast featured Amanda Seyfried, Patrick Stewart (narrator), Giovanni Ribisi, Morgan Freeman, Patrick Warburton, and Patrick Slattery. Meanwhile, Liam Neeson is the scene-stealer in the film despite his relatively brief role.
