The first season ofSweet Toothwas released in 2021 and was received very well. It holds a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and was very popular with viewers too. All this positivity reassured Netflix about the show’s future prospects, and they renewed it for a second season shortly after it was released. That second season is now getting close to being released, although the exact date has still not been made public.
The show is basically anexploration of the post-apocalypsein a relatively rural setting, with the main character being a ten-year-old boy with an unsettling resemblance to a dear. Many people would describe him as cute, but you can decide that for yourself when you see him. It was adapted from a comic book series drawn and written by Jeff Lemaire.

Sweet Tooth Season 2: The Plot
Ten years after a mysterious event called “The Great Crumble,” two strange new phenomena emerged. First, new types of children started to be born called “hybrids,” who are half-human half-animal and retain some characteristics of both. Some have the face of a pig, the teeth of an alligator, or the antlers of a deer, as in the case of the show’s young protagonist called Sweet Tooth. The second new development is a deadly virus that has been ravaging society and is responsible for the deaths of millions, maybe even billions of people. This virus is still not understood, and surviving scientists desperately study it in the hope of understanding its mechanisms and hopefully even finding a cure.

People suspect a connection between the animal babies and the virus, which makes them intensely suspicious of and hostile towards the hybrids. Because of this, the world is a very dangerous place for Sweet Tooth — he runs the risk of being hunted and killed wherever he goes. The tone of the comic is considerablydarker than the Netflix adaptation, with scientific experimentation on children being a major part of the plot. Some scientists perceive their mission to be so important that it justifies doing horrifying and unethical things to hybrid children in an effort to understand their origins and possible connection to the genesis of the deadly virus.
The tone of the post-apocalyptic world ofSweet Toothis quite positive and pleasant compared to the settings of other post-apocalyptic stories. The world of theFalloutgames, for example, is an irradiated hellscape populated by sick and murderous bandits, bloodthirsty mutants and ghouls, and terrifying mutated animals who want nothing more than to rip you to shreds. Next to this, the world ofSweet Toothresembles a members-only health club.

The first season left viewers with many questions, some of which Season 2will surely answer.
Sweet Tooth Season 2: The Cast
The main character is the boy with the face of a deer nicknamed Sweet Tooth, but the first character I want to introduce you to is Tommy Jepperd. Tommy is a physically imposing drifter who reluctantly befriends Sweet Tooth and helps him stay alive in the unforgiving and dangerous world they inhabit. Before The Great Crumble, he was a football player. However, since the semi-apocalypse, he’s diversified his skill set considerably, becoming a hunter and survivalist as well. He is played by the English actor and Londoner Nonso Anozie, whose perfectly spherical head will become a familiar and comforting sight in the world of Sweet Tooth. His previous roles have included playing a cerebral gangster inRocknrolla,a rich but shady plutocrat inGame of Thrones, and also a small role in the light-hearted and realistic Mike Leigh filmHappy-Go-Lucky.

The protagonist Sweet Tooth is ten years old and grew up with an intensely religious father, who dies shortly before the events of the show begin. His father’s death leaves Sweet Tooth without protection but also frees him up to further explore the fascinating realm of post-apocalyptic America. He got his nickname Sweet Tooth from Jepperd when he ate a stash of candy and confectionary belonging to the beefy former sportsman. He has never met his mother, and spends a large portion of the show trying to persuade Jepperd to escort him to Colorado, where he believes he might find clues pointing to her whereabouts. Sweet Tooth is played by Christian Convery, whose previous roles includeVenomandPlaying with Fire. The cast could also include Aliza Vellani, Adeel Akhtar, and Stephania LaVie Owen.

Netflix did confirm thatproduction wrapped on Season 2last summer, so hopefully, we won’t be waiting much longer.
