Yesterday,new photossurfaced from next week’s episode ofSupergirlentitledSolitude, which gave us our first look at Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. The episode centers on both Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) travelling to Superman’s lair, in order to figure out how to take down a new villain, Indigo, played byLaura Vandervoort. Today we have even more photos, which give us our first look at Indigo herself.
We reported in January thatLaura Vandervoorthas signed on to playIndigo, which is quite a unique casting choice given the actress' history with this universe. Long before paying the villainous Indigo,Laura VandervoortportrayedKara Zor-Elin a recurring role on The CW’s long-running seriesSmallville. Back in 2014, beforeMelissa Benoistwas cast,Laura Vandervoorteven offered some advice for the would-beSupergirl, while expressing her interest in appearing on an episode.
Her Indigo character is described by producers as a living, strong-willed supercomputer who has the ability to transport herself anywhere through the Internet. She was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton, but now she has landed on Earth. Indigo is also said to have a connection to Kara’s past, but we aren’t quite sure what that is at this time.
Indigo is set to have a recurring role inSupergirl, but it isn’t entirely clear how many episodesLaura Vandervoorthas signed on for. The actress was also cast alongside another new character, Master Jailer, played by Jeff Branson. He is described as the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz, who showed no mercy. Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice. He will also have a recurring role as well on the series.
