Suitsfans are in for a treat as the highly anticipated spin-off,Suits LA, finally arrives. Ever since it was announced, speculations about which original cast members will return to the series have been abuzz on social media, and now, creator Aaron Korsh discussing the possibility ofMeghan Marklereprising her role in the legal drama only spices things up.
Suits LArevolves around Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who moves to Los Angeles toreinvent himself and build his careerin the cutthroat legal landscape of the city. At the same time, he must deal with attorneys who simply cannot draw a line between their personal and professional lives. The series definitely promises the same high-stakes legal battles and a captivating storyline as the original, which also leaves some room for the original cast to make a cameo here and there. During the premiere ofSuits LA, when asked about the possibility of Meghan Markle reprising her role as Rachel Zane, Korsh told People:
“So, look, to me, we have thought about whether it be Meghan or any of the other cast members coming on and playing themselves as an actor. I think for me that’s a little … My brain blows up at the thought of that.
So I think it blows up the world too much. Obviously, if Meghan wants to come back under any circumstances, Meghan can come back.”

Meghan Markle left showbiz when she was at the top of her career, but she still made her mark in Hollywood.
WithGabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter confirmed to return, it makes sense for fans to want to see Markle appear on-screen in some capacity, but it’s also obvious why introducing her would be too complicated. When asked about whether Markle had an open invitation to return to the Suits family, he said,“Of course. Of course. Always. But I think realistically, it would be too much of an explosion of the fourth wall to do that. Yeah.”
Meghan Markle’s Character Arc As Rachel Zane in ‘Suits’
Meghan Markle’s character, Rachel Zane, was introduced in the first season ofSuitsas a sharp-witted paralegal. Rachel quickly became a pivotal character, working alongside the brilliant and unconventional lawyer, Mike Ross, at Pearson Hardman despite getting a job at her father’s legal firm. Throughout the series, her character evolved; she became a fierce lawyer, navigated complex relationships, shared an on-screen romance with Mike, and was a crucial part of many of the show’s major story arcs.
In the season 7 finale, Rachel and Mike, played by Patrick J. Adams, get married. Shortly after their wedding, Rachel and Mike leave the law firm and move to Seattle to start a new life, where they run a legal clinic solely to help underserved clients. It’s a happy and fitting conclusion to their storylines, particularly Rachel’s, who found her happily-ever-after.
WhileSuits LAisset in the same world as the original, Markle’s character was written out in a way that makes sense for the story. Korsh acknowledges the challenge of bringing her back, especially given Markle’s real-life transition from being an actor to becoming the Duchess of Sussex. Moreover, she also retired from acting in 2018. However, the fact that theSuitscreator keeps an invitation open for Markle to pop in if she wishes to suggest that the idea is not entirely off the table.
