With production already under way onStranger Things Season 2, the cast has just gotten a bit bigger. ComedianBrett Gelmanhas signed on to portray Murray Bauman, who is described as a “disgraced journalist-turned-conspiracy theorist” who comes to Hawkins, Indiana while investigating a cold case. It was not confirmed how many episodes he will appear in.

The actor had previously appeared in a number of specials for the network, with his most recent beingBrett Gelman’s Dinner in America, which aired in July, but he cut ties with the network because of its treatment of women, and due to insensitive comments made by Adult Swim executive vice presidentMike Lazzo, who said in a statement that the network doesn’t have many female-created shows because, “women don’t tend to like conflict.”

Netflix confirmed thatStranger Things Season 2will span nine episodes, one more than the eight-episode first season, with the Season 2 premiere airing sometime in 2017. The Duffer Brothers also confirmed that the second season will be set in the year 1984, one year after the events of the first season.
