The final season ofStranger Thingsis set to debut onNetflixlater this year, and while the streaming platform has yet to set a firm release date,an eagle-eyed fan thinks they’ve cracked the code.Stranger Thingsbecame a cultural phenomenon upon its debut in 2016, blending fantasy with reality to create a one-of-a-kind series that viewers could sink their teeth into. It helped make starsout of its young cast, who have since gone on to appear in numerous feature films.

PerWhat’s on Netflix, user @upsidedownscoop on X used technological witchcraft (seen below) on different Netflix websites to seemingly reveal the date within its source code whenStranger ThingsSeason 5 will premiere. If true, viewers can expect to see Will, Joyce, Jim, Eleven, Mike and the rest of the crewreturn on Thursday, November 27, which just so happens to be Thanksgiving Day in the United States.

This Is the Only Death That Makes Sense in Stranger Things Season 5

If Stranger Things Season 5 did kill somebody off, Murray would make the most sense.

As of right now, there’s no word on if the fifth and final season ofStranger Thingswill be split into multiple parts like Season 4 was, but with each of the eight episodes in its swan song having a runtime close to a feature film, it wouldn’t come as a surprise. The series could debut four episodes on Thanksgiving, and the remainder closer to Christmas, which would be an epic conclusion to not only the show, but 2025 as well.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Will Be An Emotional Goodbye

Plot details remain scarce right now for the finale ofStranger Things, and that’s okay. After spending nearly the last 10 years with everyone, we’d hatefor it to all be spoiledbefore the series has a chance to finish out. That being said, we do know a few little tidbits of information that will only serve to get fans even more psyched for its premiere, including the news that Matthew Modine’s character of Martin “Papa” Brenner will make an appearance. Whether he’s back from the dead, or just showing up in some flashbacks has yet to be determined, but like we said, that’s perfectly fine.

His addition to the finale will certainly add an extra level of emotion to the series, which finished filming in December 2024. The Duffer Brothers confirmed a while ago that it will also feature a time jump, though how long is unclear at this point. One thing’s for sure: the cast had a hard time holding back tears, as David Harbor revealed back in October that the final readthrough featured a lot of sobbing.

“The end of this episode when we were reading it — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying. Then about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people. Noah Schnapp being my favorite.”

Whether you’ve been watching from the beginning, or jumped on board midway through to catch up, there’s no denying thatStranger Thingshas had a massive impact on pop culture. That in itself is enough to make us sad to see it go, but by the time the finale rolls around, we expect to have our tissues handy for what’s sure to be a bittersweet ending.
