Marvel’sThunderboltshas continued to add to its impressive cast list withThe Walking DeadandNopestarSteven Yeunjoining the movie in a role that will seemingly go beyond just a one-shot appearance.Deadlinereports that while Yeun’s role is currently being kept under wraps, it will be “significant” inThunderbolts.
Thunderboltswas announced last year and brings together a group that certainly don’t stand out as the greatest superhero team ever compiled. The Thunderbolts collective will be put togetherunder the eye of Valentina Allegra de Fontaineand Thaddeus Ross, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Harrison Ford respectively, and brings together a number of Phase 4 characters along with some long-standing MCU members. The roster includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.

Yeun is the latest star to reportedly join the movie, which will also see Ayo Edebiri starring in another role that has yet to be revealed. With a hint that Yeun could be appearing in other Marvel projects beyondThunderbolts, it seems unlikely that his role would be of the movie’s villain, but until anything official is announced, anything is possible.

Thunderbolts Will Bring A Classic Marvel Mix of Comedy and Drama
Thunderboltsis set to film later this yearand is currently slated to hit theaters next summer. With a number of Marvel movies continuing to adjust their dates depending on how long is needed in post-production, whether that date holds is yet to be seen, but David Harbour is looking forward to reprising his role as Red Guardian. Discussing the movie previously theBlack Widowstar said of the ensemble:
“I think they’re all difficult people who all have many weaknesses. As you may know, as I certainly do, when you put a bunch of people with various certain weaknesses together, there’s often drama and comedy. I was told I would get a new suit. And I don’t want to say the ‘F’ word, but I am really psyched about that. You watch Captain America and you see him in all of these different movies, and you see him the white star and the black star [on his costume.] I just want a full closet’s worth of suits, and I’m well on my way.”
Among the many Marvel Cinematic Universe movies scheduled to be released in the next three years,Thunderboltsis interesting for not being about one of the MCU’s central heroes and instead focusing on a group that could easily bedescribed as anti-Avengers. What exactly their purpose in the grander Marvel story is something that is not yet known, but with so many flawed characters in one place at the same time has the potential to be a very interesting ride indeed.
Thunderboltswill be directed by Jake Schreier and written by Eric Pearson and will make its debut on June 27, 2025 unless it suffers any unexpected delays in the meantime.
