Are you ready to get pumped forRogue One: A Star Wars Story? EditorMatthew Longuahas cobbled together a newRogue Onetrailer that is entirely set to theBeastie Boysclassic Sabotage. Sure, the song has been used to great effect in the newStar Trekmovies, but this is pretty cool in its own right.
This new trailer actually takes all the footage released thus far, setting it to the rock rap tune. It even culls some cool behind-the-scenes footage from theStar WarsCelebration sizzle reel, incorporating it in a new way that makes this movie look like a lot of fun. MaybeStar Warsand theBeastie Boysshouldn’t mix so well. But it certainly does.
What’s perhaps quite funny about this new version of theRogue One traileris that Paramount actually released an official Star Trek Beyond trailer set to the same tune. And it made a lot of fans quite irate. Those same fans are now praising this version of theStar Wars spin-offtrailer. Some are even calling it better than the version that launched during the Olympics.
The Beastie Boys actually have a bit of history with the current Star Wars canon.Star Wars: The Force Awakensdirector J.J. Abrams, who is a big fan of the band, hence it’s inclusion in the 2009Star Trekreboot, actually named one of the new X-Wing pilots after the pioneering hip-hop trio. Alien Ello Asty gets his name from the album Hello Nasty and the Aurebesh writing on his helmet translates to ‘Born to Ill’. Of course, if you’ve seen The Force Awakens, you know poor Ello’s run with the Resistance is short lived.
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films,Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure.
