93-year-old legendStan Leeis well-known for his cameos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he recently teased that he would be open to appearing in a DC Comics adventure. Given the fierce rivalry between Marvel and DC throughout the years, this seems highly-unlikely, but still,Stan Leeoffered his cameo services to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) during a convention appearance over the holiday weekend.Stan Leeeven threw a little shade towards DC, when a fan mentioned he’d like to see him in more cameo appearances. Here’s whatStan Leehad to say below.
“I want to do more cameos also. I’ve even let people know it doesn’t have to be aMarvel movie, I don’t know why DC hasn’t called me. They could use me!”

Although you can’t quite hear it over the thunderous applause in theYouTubevideo from this past weekend’s Fan Expo 2016,Stan Leedid apologize for that last remark. He was insinuating that the DC movies could use any bit of help they can get, after Warner Bros. and DC’s last two efforts,Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeandSuicide Squad, underperformed at the box office and suffered a rash of negative reviews. It’s worth noting that, during theSuicide Squadpremiere, directorDavid Ayerfamously said, “F–k Marvel,” remarks he later apologized for, andStan Leeforgave him for that as well.
Even ifStan Leewas serious about moving over to DC for a cameo, it would have to be something drastically different than what we’ve seen in the past. Typically,Stan Lee’scameo appearancesoffer some comedy relief, which isn’t necessarily uncommon of Marvel movies, whether they originate from Marvel Studios, 20th Century Fox or Sony Pictures. SinceStan Leeisn’t necessarily beholden to any one studio, he’s certainly free to put in a DC cameo, but since their movies are essentially devoid of humor, it would have to be something much different.

Next year, the DCEU continues withWonder Womanon August 04, 2025 and the highly-anticipatedJustice Leagueon November 17. Production is still under way onJustice League, but if Warner Bros. and DC can’t correct their course with eitherWonder WomanorJustice League, the DCEU may have to take upStan Leeon his cameo offer, if only to make their movies far less serious. Take a look at the video below from Fan Expo 2016, withStan Lee’s cameo remarks coming at the 1:15 mark, along with another video that features everyStan Leecameo.
