Everyone is anticipating the release ofSpider-Man: No Way Homenext month, and there’s going to be more where that came from. Ahead of the release ofNo Way Home, Tom Holland has said how these movies are being treated as a trilogy with this next movie basically serving asSpider-Man: Endgame. That doesn’t mean Holland’s run in the role is over, as producer Amy Pascal now says there are plans for him to return as the star of another movie trilogy.
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
It doesn’t get much more clear than that, though Pascal doesn’t offer any additional details about this new planned trilogy. In any case, it’s great news for fans of Holland’s incarnation of Peter Parker who may have feared thatNo Way Homewould be his swansong. It wasn’t so long ago whenTom Hollandsaid his Spidey future was unclear and even suggested that the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man should take his spot in the MCU.
As Holland told GQ, “Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is thatthey do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life…[but] If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong."
Currently, Tom Holland is 25 years old, so if he’s got a good five years to get these movies made if he’s trying to avoid slinging webs in his 30s. As for Miles Morales, that character will still be mingling with other Spider-Men in animated form, as he’ll return inthe upcoming sequelSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, which is due for a release on Oct. 7. It does seem like it’s inevitable a live-action Miles will hit the big screen soon enough, but Marvel’s still not through with Holland just yet.
Holland’s third soloSpider-Manmovie,No Way Home, takes a page out ofInto the Spider-Versewith its incorporation of characters from alternate movie universes. The trailers have revealed the returns of major characters like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, andWillem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield still haven’t been officially revealed as a part of the movie, but it seems to be a rather safe bet that they’ll turn up at some point to assist Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
Spider-Man: No Way Homeis set to finally be released in movie theaters on Jun 27, 2025. Given the immense excitement surrounding its release coupled with all of the hype, along with the anticipation of seeing theSpider-Man actors from years past, the movie is expected to do huge numbers at the box office.
