Original ‘Shōgun’ Director Has the Weirdest Complaint About the Hit FX Series

“I watched the whole thing. It’s very difficult to stick with.”

‘Shogun’ Season 2 Is on the Way

Cosmo Jarvis definitely loves a historical drama. Before being thrust into the limelight with FX’sShogun, Jarvis starred alongside an up-and-coming Florence Pugh inLady Macbeth, and appeared in the WWII-set TV dramaMy Mother and Other Strangers. ButShogunis certainly Jarvis' most popular and lauded work to date.

The series is based on thegigantic epic novel by James Clavelland charts John Blackthorne’s (Jarvis) mission to be the first English sailor to navigate to Japan, only for him to be used as a pawn in a deadly political game between the local daimyos, lords, and nobles. The series broke multiple records at last year’s Emmys, leading many to beg for a second season. That request has been granted, and then some. Two more seasons ofShogunhave been announced by FX.
