There’s been plenty of speculation (and hope) for aReady or Notsequel. While directorsTyler GillettandMatt Bettinelli-Olpincan’t officially announce that a follow-up film is in the works, they’ve revealed a script exists. Just last month, reports circulated that a sequel was in development with Samara Weaving returning and a new director, Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) attached. If Robitel is to take over at the helm, it’s unclear how Gillet and Bettinelli-Olpin would be tied to the project, but their enthusiasm for the sequel’s script suggests they’ll likely be connected if a sequel transpires.
While speaking withEntertainment Weeklyahead of the premiere of their next film, the horror thrillerAbigail, the two shared that aReady or Not 2script has been completed, and it’s “an absolute f-cking banger.”

“It’s getting figured out,” Gillett told the publication. “That’s what we’ll say: ‘Ready or Not 2’is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f-cking banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways.”
Ready or Not
Ready or Not, released in 2019, follows Grace (Weaving), an unassuming newlywed who marries into the wealthy Le Domas family. As it turns out, Grace’s in-laws are quite hellish… and not just figuratively, as they’ve made an actual deal with the devil. On her wedding night, Grace realizes she is at the center of a lethal game of Hide and Seek, and she must fight for her own survival.
Ready or Not: Directors Say There’s “So Much Story Left to Tell”
DespiteReady or Not’s success- with critics and audiences, alike - a sequel was not something Gillet and Bettinelli-Olpin initially envisioned for the story.
“I don’t think we knew after making it that there would be so much story left to tell,” Gillett shared. “We’re so proud of what that first movie is, we’re so proud of what the sequel is … We’re just really excited, and fingers crossed that it gets made.”

Bettinelli-Olpin added:
“And with Searchlight and Samara, they’re not gonna let it down.”
