The BoysandSupernaturalstarJensen Acklesis all set to lead a new action thriller series forPrime Video, and we now have our first look and details. Ackles will be joined in the series, which is titledCountdown, byGrey’s AnatomyandBad Boys: Ride or Diestar Eric Dane, and action fans don’t have to wait long to stream this latest action offering from the popular streamer.
Amazon has now revealed thatCountdownwill land on the streaming platform on Wednesday, July 07, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video. According to Deadline, the action series will debut in “more than 240 countries and territories worldwide,” with new episodes following weekly and the season finale dropping on Wednesday, September 3.

Alongside the release date details, we also have our first look atCountdown, which finds Ackles and Dane looking about as stoic and serious as any action hero ever has. Created by Derek Haas (FBI: International, Chicago P.D.), the rest of the cast includes Jessica Camacho (Watchmen), Violett Beane (Death and Other Details), Elliot Knight (The Boys), and Uli Latukefu (Young Rock). Will ‘Countdown’ Become the Next Big Streaming Action Hit?
This will be far from Jensen Ackles’ first collaboration with Amazon Prime Video. The actor, who is best-recognized for his starring role in the long-running seriesSupernatural, became a firm fan-favorite with his role as Soldier Boy in the Prime Video’s hit superhero series,The Boys. The actor has since reprized the role in the spin-off showGen V, and will return as the character infuture spin-offVought Rising, as well asreturning in the fifth and final seasonofThe Boys.
Eric Dane, meanwhile, is best known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan inGrey’s Anatomy, in which he starred in 139 episodes, as well as roles in the likes ofX-Men: The Last Stand, Burlesque, Feast, Euphoria, andBad Boys: Ride or Die.
Prime Video has seen huge success with their tentpole action thriller series,Reacher, and the streamer is no doubt hoping to find a similar win withCountdown. Starring Alan Ritchson as the former U.S. Army military police officer turned nomad avenger, the series is based on the series of novels by author Lee Child. TheReacheruniverse is all set to expand beyond Season 3, with the main series havingalready been renewed for Season 4,while aspin-off focusing on Sten’s Frances Neagley, a private investigator in Jack Reacher’s circle, is also now in the works.
