When Disney announced the fullD23 Exposchedule last month, it revealed that the Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios panel on Saturday would includeAlice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass,The Jungle Book, Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil WarandStar Wars: The Force Awakens. As it turns out, the studio had a few surprises up its sleeve, withPirates of the CaribbeanstarJohnny Deppappearing on stage in his full Jack Sparrow costume. It was also confirmed that the upcomingPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Taleswill bring backOrlando Bloomas Will Turner.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luckCaptain Jack Sparrowfinds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Production on thisaction-adventurestarted in Australia back in February, with principal photography wrapping just last month.

Orlando Bloom’s return as Will Turner was first rumored back in September 2014, but today’s presentation was the first confirmation we have that he will be back in this sequel. He starred as Will Turner in the first three adventures, 2003’sPirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl, 2006’sPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chestand 2007’sPirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. He did not come back for the 2011 sequelPirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It was revealed at the panel thatKaya Scodelario’s character is named Carina Smyth, andBrenton Thwaites' character is named Henry.
Unfortunately, no footage fromPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Taleswas shown but Disney did unveil the sequel’s official logo, which you may check out below. With principal photography already wrapped, and nearly two years left untilPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Taleshits theaters, it isn’t known when we may get the first trailer.
