A newStephen Kingclassic is getting ready for its return to the screen, but this time with a prequel film.Pet Semataryhad its remake in 2019, and although it did not achieve the impact of the original adaptations, it was successful enough for Paramount to give the green light to a film in the form of a prequel that hasfinally released its first images:
Under the titlePet Sematary: Bloodlines, the movie will tell the story of a young Jud Crandall, who in the most recent adaptation was played by John Lithgow, and his connection with the place that gives its name to the franchise. Here’s the official description of the movie:
“In 1969, a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path. Based on the untold chapter from Pet Sematary, Stephen King’s chilling novel, PET SEMATARY: BLOODLINES is a terrifying prequel and the untold story of why sometimes dead is better.”
Pet Sematary: Bloodlinesstars Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabella Star LeBlanc, Pam Grier, and David Duchovny. The movie premieres on Paramount+ on October 6.

Next Stephen King Adaptations Coming to the Screen
The master of horror is one of the writers who has managed to bring the most of his stories to the screen, either in the form of a movie or a series. Every year, new projects related to his creations are successfully developed, and it seems that it will continue to be like that.
FollowingThe Boogeyman’s release in theaters andPet Sematary’s upcoming streaming debut, there are still a few King-related titles that might come in the next few years.
Among the various projects in development based on the writer’s stories is a new adaptation ofSalem’s Lot, a horror tale published by King shortly after the success ofCarrie. Unfortunately, the new version does not have a release date, but it will surely see the light of day at some point.
Other productions left adrift wereThe Long Walk,The Revelations of Becka Paulson,The Girl Who Loved Tom GordonandBuick 8, but all of them could suddenly be picked up and move forward once the conflicts in Hollywood are resolved.
However, the most anticipated project is undoubtedly the new adaptation ofThe Dark Towerby another of the horror masters.Mike Flanagan, who has already directed another King book,Doctor Sleep, will take over the series that will bring one of the writer’s most acclaimed stories to the small screen. The story was already adapted into a movie in 2017, but it was a huge failure even when two big stars as Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba played the lead characters.
