Sometimes the internet ends up dropping something you didn’t realize you needed. Now is definitely one of those times because someone has taken Pennywise from Stephen King’sITand put him into the iconicCheersopening credits. It’s like a really obvious Where’s Waldo, but set in a bar with a terrifying clown instead of Sam Malone or Frasier Crane. One of the better parts of Andres Muschietti’s big screen adaptation ofITwas showing Pennywise throughout history in old photos, books, newspapers, and other media. This just happens to fit in with the opening ofCheerstoo perfectly.
The opening credits to the 1980s sitcomCheersdoesn’t feature the cast. Instead, it shows off patrons of the famous Boston bar over the course of history. It’s a rather dry opening for a comedy, but it now has some horror injected to it asPennywise the demonic clownis thrown in each panel. Bill Skarsgard’s latest take on the character is featured front and center and so is Tim Curry’s version from the 1990 TV miniseries. The upbeat theme song and Pennywise’s smile are a winning combination and it’s something you’ll want to see more than once.
Maybe back in the old days, Pennywise made a few visits to theCheersbar in Boston. He is seen throwing back some cold ones and clinking glasses with other patrons of the bar in the new mashup video and he looks really happy. Who knows, maybe if the clown decided to relax some more, he wouldn’t have such a thirst for human blood. ThisCheersandITmashup is really one of the best things the internet has delivered in a very long time.

The young cast of the first chapter are in the sequel too, but it is believed they will be shown in more of flashback-type of scenario. So far, we’ve only seen one trailer and it looks completely insane.
