Chris Pratt’s Jim Preston discovers that nothing happens by accident in a new “event trailer” forPassengers, Sony’s highly-anticipatedsci-fi thrillerthat hits theaters on December 21. While the previously-released footage largely centers on Jim Preston andJennifer Lawrence’s Aurora Lane, this trailer give us a new look at some of the other supporting cast members, such asMichael Sheen, who plays the robotic bartender Arthur,Laurence Fishburne’s Gus Mancuso andAndy Garcia’s unspecified character, although little is known about the last two roles. This trailer also teases that there was a reason these twoPassengerswoke up early, during the largest human migration in history.

If that wasn’t enough, theSony PicturesYouTube also unveiled a new clip today, which shows Jim and Aurora trying to access another area of the ship. When their access is denied, they find another way in, and realize why access was denied, since this area has a massive pressure leak that puts both of their lives at risk. This breach could put the safety of every passenger on board at risk, as Jim tries to find a way to save Aurora. Unfortunately, we aren’t sure where exactly in the story this clip takes place. We saw in a previously-released clipJennifer Lawrence’s Aurora doesn’t exactly have the best luck on this ship, as she gets trapped in a gravity field while taking a swim.

Jennifer LawrenceandChris Prattstar as two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.

The project was initially developed withKeanu ReevesandReese Witherspoonset to star, but that incarnation never moved forward, untilMorten Tyldumcame aboard and castJennifer LawrenceandChris Pratt. WhilePassengersis certainly a highly-anticipated release for sci-fi fans, it does not have an easy journey ahead at the box office.
