Somehow, the hype for what’s being marketed as “A dark trip from Osgood Perkins” has surged significantly.
A few months ago,an odd video was postedon YouTube under the NEON handle, and horror fans got an early taste of the movie with the cryptic ASMR footage. Now, using the social media accounts of NEON and the film itself, the marketing team behind the mysterious project uploaded a poster containing a terrifying human figure with the head blacked out. The tagline ominously reads, “I don’t like you anymore” and the title sits below. The caption for the post resembles a children’s classic rhyme, and it goes like this:

I don’t want to play in your yard,
I don’t like you anymore.
You’ll be sorry when you see me
sliding down our cellar door.

Osgood Perkins Is One of Modern Horror’s Most Distinctive Auteurs
Not only did Osgood Perkins deliver one of the best horror films of 2024, and a darkly comic Stephen King adaptation in 2025, the director has made some of the scariest films of the 21st century. While the debate about “elevated horror” unfortunately stays strong, and some viewers insist on dividing the genre, filmmakers like Perkins have been consistent in proving that horror is one huge universe that accepts the wicked, the ugly and the fancy inside the same circle.
His debut,The Blackcoat’s Daughter, was a bleak and extremely unsettling take on supernatural horror blended with satanic movie tropes. Few horror debuts have been as strong as Perkins'. The Netflix productionI Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the Houseremains one of his best– a beautiful ghost film that probes our relationship with the unknown.Gretel & Hanselis a twist on the classic tale by the Brothers Grimm — one that may leave you feeling deeply disturbed.

LonglegsandThe Monkeystayed inside the mainstream, but they’re distinct horror features nonetheless. Two different scary films in tones that occupy opposite ends of the horror spectrum. On one hand,Longlegstold a serial killer story with heavy supernatural undertones. Meanwhile,The Monkeywas instead a hilarious adaptation that took Stephen King’s classic and adapted it for modern audiences.Keeperis far too mysterious a project to make any predictions, but after NEON’s engaging marketing campaign, it’s safe to say Perkins has done it once again.
