Less than a year sinceTerrifier 2left audiences squeamish, Art the Clown will return to the big screen. PerThe Hollywood Reporter,Dread and Iconic Events are working together for the originalTerrifier’s theatrical re-release. The 2018 film will hit 700 theaters starting Jul 29, 2025.Terrifieroriginally premiered at the Telluride Horror Show Film Festival before hitting limited theaters, making its 2023 release the widest the film has received.Written and directed byDamien Leone, the slasher film tells the tale of Art the Clown as he terrorizes three young women on Halloween. The film stars Margaret Reed, Jenna Kanell, Katie Maguire, and David Howard Thornton (who reprized the role of Art the Clown for the film’s sequel). In a statement, Epic Pictures and Dread CEO Patrick Ewald said:
“When Damien Leone and his team broughtTerrifierto Dread Central years ago, we knew that the film was something incredibly special and astoundingly terrifying in the best way possible. Now, six years later, with millions ofTerrifierfans worldwide, we are excited to once again unleash on the big screen this blood-soaked homage to old-school horror and the insanity of Art the Clown.”

Art the Clown Will Return in Terrifier 3
The fascination with the killer clown was amplified with the success of last year’sTerrifier 2. The film’s popularity and hype was only helped by reports of audience members vomiting and fainting in theaters, and it grossed $15 million worldwide (an impressive accomplishment given its $250,000 production cost). With its earnings and audience response,Terrifier 2quickly solidified its place as one of 2022’s most successful horror films.
The sequel left room for more to tell about Art the Clown, The Pale Girl, and Final Girl Sienna Shaw, and horror fans will be delighted to learn that Leone plans on growing Art the Clown’s screen time even more. Leone has said that he is currently working on and even more epicTerrifier 3, and thatTerrifier 4could conclude the franchise. Through Twitter, Leone shared that, “If all goes as planned, part 3 will be the scariestTerrifierthus far.”
Audiences can enjoy the originalTerrifierin all its bloody glory on the big screen starring July 19. Through a statement, Leone offered a bit of advice to moviegoers: “Let’s see if you can stomach Art the Clown’s notorious ‘hack saw scene’ on the big screen! Be sure to bring your barf bags.”
