WithDisney having now confirmed a May 25th premiere date for theStar Wars Obi-Wan Kenobiseries, fans of the franchise, andEwan McGregor’s returning Jedi, are now eagerly awaiting the trailer for the show that is said to be coming during this weekend’s Super Bowl. For months now, reports have teased not only McGregor’s first appearance in the franchise for over 15 years, but alsoHayden Christensen’s return as Darth Vader, which has set up a rematch between the two characters that LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy called “the rematch of the century.” However, some new details have cast some doubt over how much screen time Christensen will be getting in the series.Possible spoilers lie ahead.
A new report byMaking Star Warshas broken down some of the plot points and ways that Christensen will appear in theObi-Wan Kenobiseries, and more importantly, when he won’t. Just like in the original trilogy, it seems that a number of different actors will be playing Vader across the series depending on his appearance and what the scenes require. Christensen will appear as Vader in his bacta tank and, of course, any scenes where he is seen without his helmet and in flashback sequences that will form part of nightmares suffered by McGregor’s Obi-Wan.

When it comes to fully suited Vader, there will be two others fulfilling this side of the role. Dmitrious Bistrevsky will be playing the character in scenes when he is simply standing or moving around, while Tom O’Connell will be the suit and helmet for any fight sequences. Considering it is likely that Vader will be seen mostly “in helmet,” then it means that the short time Christensen was reportedly on set makes more sense, as while Vader made be a prominent figure in the show, he will be mostly portrayed by other actors.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Will Bridge a Gap in Star Wars History Following Events of Revenge of The Sith

Disney and LucasFilm are currently making the most of the black holes between the movie trilogies, withThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fettpicking up on events followingReturn of The Jedi, andObi-Wan Kenobiwill bridge the gap betweenRevenge of the SithandA New Hope, giving an insight into what occurred between Kenobi and Vader after their devastating showdown on Mustafar.
The series will be set eight years after the duel on Mustafar, where Anakin Skywalker was almost killed by Kenobi, leading to his final transformation into Darth Vader, and will deliver an epic face-off between the pair. Obviously, we know the outcome of this latest battle, as Vader and Kenobi would meet one more time inA New Hope, but getting there is going to be a ride that fans of theStar Warssaga are going to be happy to be on board for. There is no doubt that there will be some surprises thrown in there as well for good measure.
