Nicolas Cagewill lead the eagerly-anticipated,live-actionSpider-Man Noirserieswhich is drawing inspiration from the ‘Golden Age’ of comics, according to the actor. Based on an underappreciated version of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics,Spider-Man Noiris a 1940s-inspired detective, who also does whatever a spider can. Cage first voiced the role in 2018’sSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Oscar-winning animated film. Cage’s casting was perfect, and fans were immediately calling for Cage (a long-time comic book fan and collector) to portray Spider-Man Noir in live-action. The live-action series (being produced by Prime Video) has been on the cards for some time now, and Cage just gave fans the biggest update yet.
Speaking toThe New Yorker, Cage discussed his take on the unique version of Spider-Man. The actoracknowledged his enigmatic presence in Hollywood, and noted that this would lend itself well to the role.Cage is renowned for his larger-than-life performances, and mysterious aura on screen, which perfectly fits the character of Spider-Man Noir. Cage explained:

“I mean, the fantasy would be that I could attempt to aspire to be something more Golden Age. I wanted to have that kind of aura, you know, like the more enigmatic, you don’t know too much. That’s why I’m not on social media. That’s the thinking, anyway. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens if I do [Spider-Man Noir], and they put me in black-and-white. We’ll see if we can get some of that flavor.”
The Most Evil Versions of Spider-Man Throughout the Spider-Verse
From Patient Zero to Patton Parnel, in this list, we unveil the most evil versions of Spider-Man throughout the ever-expanding Spider-Verse.
As well as finally giving Cage the live-action superhero role he deserves (of course, there are those who will argue thatGhost Rideralready did that), hisstarring role in Prime Video’sSpider-Man Noirseries will also mark the actor’s first television show. During the interview, Cage explained that he’s anxious about making the move to TV because of the longer, more aggressive production schedules. Cage said:

“I don’t want to take too many unnecessary physical risks. But television is terrifying because you have only so much time to get the libretto in your body, and you have to keep going, keep going, keep shooting. And I thought, ‘That’s challenging. I’m afraid of it. I’ve never prepared like that before.'”
