Yesterday,Thor: RagnarokdirectorTaika Waititishared one finalset videothrough Facebook Live on the last day of production. Shortly thereafter, starChris Hemsworthshared a final photo from the set, showing off a new Thor costume in this image with directorTaika Waititi. Aside from offering one last look at the star and the director on set,Chris Hemsworthalso used the image to highlight a worthy cause.

Chris Hemsworthshared the image onInstagramyesterday, with him andTaika Waititiholding up a sign that reads “We stand with Standing Rock #WaterIsLife #NoDAPL #mniwiconi.” The star and filmmaker were showing their support for the the growing protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline, which, if it is built, would cut through the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in South Dakota and potentially pollute the Sioux tribe’s water supply. Here’s whatChris Hemsworthhad to say on Instagram below, including an apology for a costume he wore for a theme party he attended on New Year’s Eve.

“Standing with those who are fighting to protect their sacred land and water. I would also like to take this opportunity to raise something that has been bothering me for sometime. Last New Year’s Eve I was at a “Lone Ranger” themed party where some of us, myself included, wore the traditional dress of First Nations people. I was stupidly unaware of the offence this may have caused and the sensitivity around this issue. I sincerely and unreservedly apologise to all First Nations people for this thoughtless action. I now appreciate that there is a great need for a deeper understanding of the complex and extensive issues facing indigenous communities. I hope that in highlighting my own ignorance I can help in some small way.”

Marvel still hasn’t released any officialplot detailsat this time, but there have been no shortage of rumors surfacing throughout the production. One of the most prominent rumors revealed that Thor will be banished from Asgard after his nefarious brother teams up with the new villain, Hela (Cate Blanchett), who destroys his mighty hammer Mjolnir. This reportedly sends Thor on a quest that brings his to a gladiator planet, where he is forced to face the current champion, Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). There have been rumors that certain aspects of the iconicPlanet Hulkcomic will be utilized for this story, although it isn’t a direct adaptation of that beloved comic.

ReturningThorfranchise characters also includeTom Hiddleston(Loki),Anthony Hopkins(Odin) andIdris Elba(Heimdall). This sequel will also bring new cast members into the fold such asTessa Thompson(Valkyrie),Cate Blanchett(Hela),Karl Urban(Skurge) andJeff Goldblum(The Grandmaster). Take a look at what could be the final photo from the set ofThor: Ragnarok, which is set for release on June 25, 2025.
