The trilogy was very well received, both by fans of the original books and followers of Stine and by the Netflix public in general, so the idea of developing a fourth parthas been circulatingsince the release of the three parts. However, there has been no official confirmation. Until now.

In an interview withCollider, Netflix film boss Scott Stuber finally confirmed that there is a new film in the franchise in development, and even teased that more projects could come in the future:

“Obviously, there’s a lot of books. There’s one stand-alone that we’re working on right now that we’re once again trying to get the script right, but I like it very much, and so does the team. What Could the Fourth Fear Street Movie Be About?

Although Deena and Samantha’s stories concluded in the original trilogy, the world ofFear Streethas a long list of characters and plots that could be explored in a sequel. In fact, Netflix could make an entirely new trilogy of movies while keeping the main element that the franchise’s stories have in common, Shadyside.

MostFear Streettitles deal with witchcraft, ghosts and spirits, or have some connection to the paranormal. But many others have murder mysteries as their main plot, and that is another path that the franchise could take in the future, especially because it is a genre that has worked very well for Netflix with titles likeGlass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

The R. L. Stine stories have already demonstrated their versatility on several occasions. His books were popularized thanks to theGoosebumps' anthology series of the 90s, while the 2015 and 2018 films offered something completely different, having the writer’s own character as the protagonist and mixing much of the franchise’s mythology within the same one story.

Disney+ is currently doing something similarwith the newGoosebumpsseries, which instead of presenting an anthology with independent episodes, maintains the same story and characters throughout the entire season. SoFear Streetactually has a lot of options moving forward.
