Mike Flanagan’s heavily underrated slasherHushis definitive proof that fan campaigns can be effective. Not only didthe film get a digital release days ago(after Netflix scrapped it from their catalog), but Shout Factory is also working on a physical version ofHush. Users on X, formerly known as Twitter, spread the rumors like a virus, but Flanagan himself took the mic to announce the release in a very peculiar way.

Flanagan used Xto announce the release from his personal screening room. The video shows great memorabilia from Flanagan’s films, like Rose’s hat fromDoctor Sleepand a priest’s tunic fromMidnight Mass. There’s also a T-800’s arm andThe Rocketeer’s helmet. But what stands out is the audience sitting in the theater. Flanagan himself, but alsoHush’s cast: Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Michael Trucco, and Samantha Sloyan. The X post reads as follows:

“It is my great pleasure to announce that - thanks to Shout Factory - HUSH will finally be available on physical media for the first time ever this November. And - as this cast reunion video might imply - this collectors edition is LOADED with special features.

Head over tohttps://shoutfactory.com/products/hush-collectors-edition…to get your physical copy of HUSH.”

In the video, Flanagan confirms that Shout Factory is preparing a physical release of the 2016 horror movie. After making a few jokes about the various versions of the film (a Muppets version doesn’t sound so bad), Flanagan provides some details about which of those will be included in the 4K UHD release.

Hushwas originally released on Netflix tocritical acclaim. It holds a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest in Flanagan’s catalog of films, tied with his adaptation ofThe Haunting of Hill House. It follows Maddie Young, a deaf and mute horror author who must confront a violent killer who arrives at her isolated house in the middle of the night. Using nothing but her wits, Maddie decides to stand up for herself, even if the masked killer has some advantage.
