There will be casualties whenInfinity WarandAvengers 4hit theaters and it appears that the deaths of some of our heroes will be permanent, according to Marvel Studios headKevin Feige. Speculation has been rampant about who will not make it out of the epic battle with Thanos alive, and Feige is warning fans to “be careful what they wish for” in a new interview about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther and Spider-Man are some of the characters that will lead the new charge of the MCU.
Marvel fans have known since it was announced thatInfinity Warwas going to make it to the big screen that some of the most beloved characters in comic book history werenot going to make it out alive. Kevin Feige is aware of the fan speculation that is fueled by the contracts of Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Tom Hiddleston coming to an end withInfinity Warand the still untitledAvengers 4. Feige didn’t spill the beans, but he did address the finality of death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had this to say.
“I mean, I could always list off the characters that we’vekilled in our moviesthat haven’t come back, but the big ones, which I know they’re looking at…? I would just say, yes… People need to be careful what they wish for.”
However, Kevin Feige did hint thatdeathmight not be the end for all of the characters in the grand scheme of things. For instance, Scarlett Johansson could come back to portray Black Widow in the origin story movie that is currently in the very early stages of development. It seems that characters can come back for flashbacks in future movies. Feige explains.
“People always will jump to that. That’s not necessarily what we’re talking about. I talk a lot, because I’m a big-ass nerd, aboutStar Trek: The Next Generation, All Good Things. That to me is one of the best series finales ever. That wasn’t about death. Picard went and played poker with the crew, something he should have done a long time ago, right?”
The new phase of the MCU will see the retirement of some of the biggest comic book characters ever and it will usher in the new team. Kevin Feige has confirmed thatBlack Panther’s Shuri will be seen quite a bit in the future and many are looking at her to be the next Tony Stark. T’Challa will obviously be a big part of the next phase of the MCU as will Peter Parker and possibly some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
