SPOILERS ahead. Mark Hamill confirms Luke Skywalker is back as a Force Ghost inThe Rise of Skywalker.Star Warsfans have thought about this option ever since the iconic character died at the conclusion ofThe Last Jedi. It’s the obvious way to have Hamill involved in the final installment in the Skywalker saga, but up until now, it was unclear how the Jedi Master was able to return. Regardless, fans were happy to hear his voice in the first trailer for the movie, which also features the return of Emperor Palpatine.
The Rise of Skywalkerhits theaters at the end of the year and J.J. Abrams is doing a great job of keeping everything under wraps.Mark Hamillis currently out promoting theChild’s Playremake where he voices the new Chucky doll and he was obviously asked about theStar Warsfranchise. When asked if he was really done after this one, Hamill had this to say.
“I sure hope so… Well, because… I had closure inThe Last Jedi. The fact that I’m involved in any capacity is only because of that peculiar aspect of theStar Warsmythology where if you’re a Jedi, you get to come back and make a curtain call as a Force Ghost.”
Let’s hope Mark Hamill doesn’t get in any trouble for revealing hisForce Ghostrole inThe Rise of Skywalker. Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams run a tight ship, just like Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios, who are able to keep secrets for extraordinary amounts of time. But, nearly everybody expected Hamill to be returning as a Force Ghost for the upcoming movie, so it’s not really too much of a surprise after we saw him die inThe Last Jedi.
A newStar Warscomic series,Age of the Rebellion- Luke Skywalker, is attempting to shed some light on Skywalker’s life afterReturn of the Jediand beforeThe Force Awakens. As it turns out, Emperor Palpatine was successful in an attempting to contact Skywalker through the Force and may have been influencing him the whole time after he made the decision not to join the Dark Side. Instead of trying to draw the Jedi in closer, it is believed Palpatine tried to push him away, which may explain why he went into exile.
A lot ofStar Warsfans and even Mark Hamill weren’t too happy with the wayLuke Skywalker’s storyhas played out in the latest trilogy. The main gripes come from Rian Johnson’sThe Last Jediand many are hoping J.J. Abrams will go in and fix the so-called problems with Skywalker’s exile decision. Abrams has stated more than once that he has no problem with what Johnson did and has no plans to go in and change things up to satisfy fans. you may watch Mark Hamill revealThe Rise of SkywalkerForce Ghost news below, thanks to theAssociated Press Twitteraccount.
