Black Panther: Wakandaand12 Years a SlavestarLupita Nyong’ois joining another cinematic universe, theA Quiet Placeuniverse. PerVariety, the Academy Award-winning actor is in final negotiations to star inA Quiet Place: Day One, the next installment of the Paramount horror franchise.
The third film in theA Quiet Placefranchise will star Nyong’o in an undisclosed role, with story details currently being kept under wraps. The original idea for the third installment is from John Krasinksi, who directed and co-starred in the first two films alongside his wife Emily Blunt. However, the short-lived Reed Richards star and director won’t be returning forDay One, withPigdirector Michael Sarnoski helming the new film, set for release on June 25, 2025.

The first two films took place on a post-apocalyptic Earth that has been taken over by blind monsters who use a form of echolocation to hunt human prey. In 2018’sA Quiet Place, Krasinski and Blunt play Lee and Evelyn Abbott, the parents of two young kids, named Marcus and Regan, played by Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, struggling to rear their children in a world overrun by monsters. After Kraskiniski’s character died trying to save Regan in the first film, the actor-director returned for a cameo role in the franchise’s second installment in 2020,A Quiet Place II, in which began with a prologue before the monsters first attacked. According toA.V. Club, while a cameo is “not out of the question,” Blunt and Krasinki likely won’t be reprising their roles in the spinoff.
Day Oneis not meant to continue the story of Evelyn and her remaining family members. It is rumored to be an entirely new story set in the same universe.
