Fans of Disney+ seriesObi-Wan Kenobihave still not given up the belief that Ewan McGregor will be back to continue his journey as the iconic Jedi. It seems that Lucasfilm bossKathleen Kennedyis in the same boat, as she doesn’t feel she can completely close down rumors of more to come from Kenobi.

Obi-Wan Kenobidelivered one of the most awaited comebacks of theStar Warssaga as Ewan McGregor once again donned his Jedi robes and came face to face with Anakin Skywalker for the first time sinceRevenge of the Sithtwo decades earlier. After breaking viewership records and delivering a solid “limited series,”Obi-Wan Kenobicertainly left the door open for another story to be told, but so far there has been no sign of that happening. However, while speaking on Entertainment Weekly’sDagobah Dispatch podcast, Kennedy once again sparked hope that Kenobi could return again…sometime. She said:

Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

“I always hesitate to say no to more Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maybe we end up doing something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories that we’re doing, or eventually into a movie, but who knows? But right now, it’s still our standard standalone limited series.”

This is similar to comments the Lucasfilm boss has made previously, but it is one of the first times she has suggested that more Obi-Wan Kenobi stories could take many forms if they do happen, and that it is a subject that clearly isn’t going away.

Does Obi-Wan Kenobi Need A Second Season?

That is a question that can be asked about many shows, and usually the answer is probably not. When it comes to Ewan McGregor’s Jedi though, there is clearlya lot of love for the characterand there is a still a sizeable chunk of his history that could be explored between the series and his original appearance inStar Wars: A New Hope.

Ewan McGregor has made it clear that he would love to bring back Kenobi again if there is a good enough to story to tell. He previously said:

“I was so happy to do it again, and so happy to work with Hayden again, and I hope we get the chance to do it again. In the old days, I would joke about, ‘There must be a good story to tell between ‘Episode III’ and ‘VI’.’ But, it’s true. I always felt that there was. I feel like Deborah Chow found it and absolutely nailed it. Like just found the story that we wanted to see between the last one that we did and first that was done in [1977]… And I think it just adds to our knowledge of the characters, and it’s satisfying… for the fans.”

The long and short of it is everyone wants Kenobi to return again. Where and when that will happen is something that has yet to be worked out, but it is almost impossible to imagine that he will not have another story of his own somewhere in the future of theStar Warssaga.
