Recently we passed along word that The CW’s planned TV series based onThe Lost Boyswas going back to the drawing board. We then passed along a fun bit of business that saw originalThe Lost Boysactor Corey Feldman calling upon his fellow Frog Brother Jamison Newlander to join him in auditioning for the role of The Frog Sisters in the revamped pilot. And guess what? Today we have that audition tape!
No seriously,Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlanderseem to have joined forces this past weekend to create a hilarious audition tape for the role of The Frog Sisters. As far as what you can expect to see from the audition tape, the whole affair is pretty damn silly in all the best possible ways. As you might imagine (or not), the tape features Feldman and Newlander dressed in drag and running over lines for the rebooted characters. The video runs a good six minutes, so ensure you’re ready for some seriously strange shenanigans.
Now, to backtrack a bit for those of you that might just now be tuning in for the drama that has been the behind the scenes of The CW’sThe Lost BoysTV series, it goes a little something like this. Earlier this year,The CW ordered a pilot based on the 1987 vampire classicfrom executive producer and writer Heather Mitchell. The powers that be behind the scenes thought it made sense to hire the director of the originalTwilightmovie to helm this new teen vampire project and so that’s just what they did. Can’t-lose, right? Well, not so much.
From there Hardwicke and Mitchell assembled their cast which was pretty damn respectable if you ask me. This updated cast included|Tyler Posey as Michael, Rio Mangini as Sam, and Kiele Sanchez as their single mother, Lucy. From there Del Zamora played Michael and Sam’s grandfather, Frank, and Cheyenne Haynes and Haley Tju snagged the roles of the Frog sisters, Liza and Cassie.
Dakota Shapiro joined them as the head vampire, David (played by Keifer Sutherland in the original movie) and Sarah Hay joined him as Mollie and Medalion Rahimi as David’s girlfriend, Stella. And then word came around that only Medalion Rahimi as Stella and Dakota Shapiro as David would be kept from the original pilot. Ouch. Thenew pilot is expected to go into production by the end of the yearafter every other role has been recast.
For the record, along with the above-mentioned Kiefer Sutherland as David Powers, the originalThe Lost Boysmovie starred Jason Patric as Michael Emerson, Corey Haim as Sam Emerson, Dianne Wiest as Lucy Emerson, Jami Gertz as Star, Ed Herrmann as Max, and Barnard Hughes as Grandpa. Brooke McCarter joined them as Paul, along with Billy Wirth as Dwayne, Alexander Winter as Marko Davies, Chance Michael Corbitt as Laddie, and Alexander Bacon Chapman as Greg. Corey Feldman joined in on the fun as Edgar Frog along with Jamison Newlander as Alan Frog AKA The Frog Brothers. And let’s not forget, Tim Cappello as the “sexy” Saxophone Player.
