A crew member working forLaw & Order: Organized Crimewas fatally shot at the TV show’s set in Brooklyn early Tuesday morning. The victim, a 31-year-old married father of three, had just started his shift and was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle saving a parking space when another man reportedly opened the driver’s door and began firing on the crew member.
The tragedy occurred on North Henry Street near Norman Avenue in Greenpoint around 5:15 a.m. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, and no arrests have been made. According toNBC New York, an NBC and Universal Television spokesperson issued a statement condemning the violence:

“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result. We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy at during this time.”
Law & Order: Organized Crimewas in the middle of filming its third season, which is a spinoff of theSpecial Victims Unitseries, starringChristopher Melonias Elliot Stabler, a member of the NYPD Organized Crime Unit. The series follows Stabler as he seeks absolution, rebuilds his life, and leads a new elite task force that takes down the city’s most powerful crime syndicates one by one.
The Witnesses Are Shocked
A colleague of the victim was at the scene during the time of the shooting and shared what he witnessed with theNew York Post. “It was crazy. I didn’t hear an argument or nothing. It was quiet, early morning, it was just a pop, and the [gunman] ran up towards Nassau [Avenue]. I only heard one bang, but I don’t know how many shots. I don’t even know who would do this or why.”
The police say they are ruling nothing out, whether the victim and gunman knew each other beforehand or if it was a simple parking dispute that turned deadly. The suspect escaped the scene before police arrived, and witnesses say he was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
A coworker commented on the job, saying, ‘Sometimes we get hassled about parking, but we work with a lot of people in the communities. They talk with us, we talk with them. We see what time you want to leave, and depending on what time our trucks come, we let them park. There’s never too much hassle with the parking.’ They continue, ‘He was a great guy, always laughing or making somebody laugh, you know?.’
Law & Order: Organized Crimeplanned to begin filming at 6 a.m., just 45 minutes from when the shooting occurred.
