The official title of the thirdKnives Outmovie wasofficially revealed a few days ago, with Netflix announcing that the latest whodunnit will be calledWake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Following the announcement, returning director Rian Johnson released the following statement…

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”

The former James Bond star Daniel Craig is all set to return as the ludicrously accented private detective Benoit Blanc. Cailee Spaeny is all but confirmed, followiung her big roles inCivil WarandPriscilla. Joining her is Josh O’Connor, who has received critical acclaim for his performance in the Netflix seriesThe Crown, in which he starred as Charles, Prince of Wales. O’Connor has been met withfurther acclaim for this year’sChallengersfrom director Luca Guadagnino, in which he stars alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist. And of course, Andrew Scott is beloved for his performances inSherlock, Fleabag, Ripley, andAll of Us Strangers.

Knives Out 3 Will Be Very Different Tonally & Thematically to Glass Onion, Teases Rian Johnson

Director Rian Johnson has offered some insight into his approach to Knives Out 3.

Certainly, the addition of Cailee Spaeny and Josh O’Connor would getKnives Out 3off to a solid start, but the second pair of names rumored to join would perhaps even top the first two outings. Both Tom Hardy andLindsay Lohanare now reportedly in talks, and while What’s on Netflix goes on to state that said talks may have “fallen through,” it’s still very possible that we could see these Hollywood stars facing the accusatory gaze of Benoit Blanc.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mysteryis due to begin filming in fall 2024, in London, and is scheduled to make its debut on Netflix in 2025.
