Marvel Studios PresidentKevin Feigewarned Hugh Jackman against returningas Logan in the upcoming MCU outingDeadpool & Wolverine, it has been revealed. Following the surprising news that Jackman will return to the role, Feige advised the actor not to do it after concluding the character’s journey so well in 2017’sLogan. Speaking withEmpire, who have also released a new image of Jackman in the comic-accurate yellow suit, Feige reflected the nerves that many have felt since the announcement of the actor’s comeback…
“I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh. Don’t come back. You had the greatest ending in history with Logan. That’s not something we should undo.’”

Jackman has now played Wolverine for decades, beginning with the firstX-Menmovie back in 2000. Since then, that actor has appeared in the main Fox franchise and his own, standalone Wolverine adventures, culminating in 2017’scritically acclaimedLogan.
Thankfully, we can all now breathe a sigh of relief, as Feige has re-confirmed that the Wolverine in this year’sDeadpooljaunt isnot the same one as seen inLogan. “Correct”, he said when asked about the matter.

A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
The notion of it being a different Wolverine is exactly what drew Jackman back to the role, with the actor unable to stop thinking about once again donning the spiky hair and claws and working alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth.

“I was about an hour into the drive. And that question came into my head: ‘What do I want to do?’ And as soon as I asked the question, I wanted to do Deadpool & Wolverine. I just knew it. I drove for another hour. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. And I got out of the car, called Ryan, and said, ‘Ryan, if you’ll have me, I’m in.’”
