Ballerina Will Be the First of Multiple John Wick Spinoffs
Ballerinawill be just the first of multiple spinoffs set in theJohn Wickuniverse. There are other characters who could potentially have their stories expanded upon in new movies, though it remains to be seen who exactly would be getting such projects. What we know is that a prequel series dubbedThe Continentalis officially happening at Peacock, and this will jump into the backstories of some notable characters. Franchise writer Shay Hatten recentlyteased other big spinoffssoon to be coming as well.
“I think this movie is just opening up more and more avenues of this world,” Hatten toldTotal Film. “There’s all these little pockets of different crime families, and different corners of the world that John might never have a reason to go visit in his mainline story quest.”
Hatten added, “ButBallerina, through the lens of the ballet theater that we see John visit in the third movie, explores a character who’s come up through that, and then gets sent on a journey to a new pocket of the Wick world that I think is a concept that we haven’t seen in any of the four previous movies. I think it really just shows this limitless potential for expanding and exploring the grey areas of this world.”
