Earlier in the week, some new leaked set footage fromThe PunisherSeason 2 found its way online. In this footage, Frank Castle actor Jon Bernthal can be seen with the iconic skull logo on his chest, chasing an unknown adversary in public. Now, we have found out that Castle is chasing down his old friend Billy Russo, akaJigsaw, thanks to a new behind-the-scenes set video. Ben Barnes recently confirmed his participation inThe PunisherSeason 2 and revealed that Russo’s life has literally been “shattered.”

The new behind-the-scenes video fromThe Punisheris pretty lengthy and takes place in New York City. While we can clearly see Ben Barnes in the new footage, it isn’t clear if he has taken on the Jigsaw moniker yet. We watch as hisBilly Russocharacter takes off a mask, but it’s hard to see what his face looks like. He has a really short haircut this time around, and he seems to be staring down Frank Castle before taking off in a vehicle with another guy wearing a mask.

It is entirely possible that Billy Russo’s facial damage will be done in the post-production process. While you can clearly see that it’sBen Barnes, it’s not easy to see if he has severe facial scarring, so he could possibly have motion capture markings on his face. As seen in the finale of the first season ofThe Punisher, Frank Castle takes Russo’s face and repeatedly smashes it against a mirror, and then rubs the face up and down and side to side on the broken mirror, terribly disfiguring Russo’s visage.

In a recent interview at ACE Comic Con in Arizona,Jon Bernthal was asked about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universeafter the success of the first season ofThe Punisher. Speaking very much like Frank Castle, Bernthal does not have any Hollywood aspirations. The actor says that he’s just happy to be playing the character at all. Bernthal explains.

“For me, it’s not about, I have no aspirations or desire to do anything besides what I’m doing. I love this character, I believe in him, he’s in my bones, I feel honored to play him, and I want to keep playing him. So in all honesty, there’s no part of me that says, Oh, I hope I’m in the movies. It’s whatever it’ll be.”

It’s hard to imagineFrank Castlejoining up with the Avengers to take down Thanos in the MCU. IfThe Punisherwere to join the MCU, it would have to be a much darker and violent affair that would earn the movie a hard R-rating in order for it to work. Castle is an intense character with a lot of demons who enjoys bloodshed and rubbing his former best friend’s face in broken glass. In other words,The Punisherisn’t the best fit for the MCU.
