Jeffrey Dean Morganknows how he’d like to approach playing Thomas Wayne in the upcomingFlashpointmovie, even if some rumors claim it’s been scrapped. News of theFlashpointmovie was announced last summer during San Diego Comic Con, and Morgan has been fanning rumors that he’ll be playingBatmanever since. It’s clear that he wants the role, but it’s not clear how much of theFlashpointstory will go in terms of the comics. Many have looked at the movie as a way to reboot the DCEU, much like it did the comics, but it’s still too early to tell at this time.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was asked about theFlashpointrole on the red carpet forRampage. Specifically, he was asked if the villainous character that he plays in the new movie, opposite Dwayne Johnson, could influence his portrayal of the Caped Crusaders. In reply Morgan said that he had a pretty good idea how he’d approach the role. He had this to say.

“I don’t think so. I think I would know how I would playBatmanbut I’ve put some thought into it.”

Batman v Supermanfeatured Jeffrey Dean Morgan asThomas Wayneand many have assumed that theFlashpointmovie would also include him in the role. In the comics, Bruce Wayne dies, leading Thomas to take on theBatmanrole while Marth Wayne slowly turns into the Joker after losing her mind. The whole idea of theFlashpointmovie is exciting to DC fans and many hope that the forthcoming movie uses the source material and sticks as close to it as possible. Jeffrey Dean Morgan obviously hopes so as well.

Back in December of last year, Jeffrey Dean Morgan commented a little further aboutwanting to play Batmanin the DCEU. He talked about his love of the character and his familiarity with theFlashpointstoryline, leading to even more rumors. Morgan even went as far as to call theFlashpointversion of Batman the “coolest.” He explains.

“There’s arole in the DC UniverseI’ve got my eye on. What I know about the Flashpoint Batman is, you know, for me, I think he is not only the darkest of the Batmen, but the coolest. And I love his whole storyline and who he is and the tortured soul of it all.”

Rampageopens in theaters this week, and early reviews have heaped praise on Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s acting work, which isn’t really a surprise since he plays such an awesome villain onThe Walking Dead. As for theFlashpointmovie, that’s anybody’s guess whether Morgan willend up as the Caped Crusaderor not. However, the actor is definitely prepared for the role should Warner Bros. and DC Films come knocking on his door.
