Jason Statham Has a Major Action Sequel in the Pipeline (It’s Not ‘Hobbs & Shaw 2’)
While we await the arrival ofHobbs and Shaw 2(which is in the works, according to writer Chris Morgan), Jason Statham has another highly anticipated sequel in the pipeline:The Beekeeper 2. Set to be helmed byThe Shadow StraysandNobody 2director Timo Tjahjanto, the action thriller follow-up has now entered production, with the filmmakerrevealing recently to MovieWeb’s own George Edelman…
“I was, literally two days ago, I was in London scouting for locations [for Beekeeper 2], and now I’m here in LA, but I love…I can’t wait, to be honest, because, you know, Beekeeper is obviously one of those movies where it sort of walked the fine line … something absurd about it in a great way, right? Like, I think that’s what I that’s what I’m drawn to, because I love this absurdist world of Beekeeper and secret agents and all that stuff, you know? But like, also, there’s something that is really earnest in its sense, where it can be really violent, it can be suddenly very gritty.”

Though plot details remain under wraps, Tjahjanto has since revealed toScreenRantthat he plans to transform Statham’s character Adam Clayinto his version of a Marvel vigilante icon…
“I’m definitely drawn to the Beekeeper series just because when I watched it, I always felt that, “Wow, this is essentially Statham playing one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe, which is The Punisher.

“If I can’t make The Punisher film, if the Gods of film aren’t allowing me to do a Punisher film yet, then I’ll turn Adam Clay into my own version of The Punisher. Which is great! I think Statham has that quality in him. He has that very stoic Frank Castle-esque quality to him. And I love that Adam Clay is definitely a guy who is quite colorful in his choice of violence. He gets really, really creative with his violence.”
